The law places the obligation of age verification on the seller. The consequences of neglect are real.
Selling alcohol to a minor is a serious offence. Authorities can revoke the sales licence, which for many retailers means losing their primary source of revenue.
Selling tobacco, e-cigarettes or energy drinks to a minor can result in fines or criminal proceedings against the employee and the business owner.
A large share of tense situations in retail stems from age checks. MyCheckr removes the personal element from the process: the device gives the signal, not the cashier.
MyCheckr does not replace the seller's decision. It supports it. The device indicates when checking ID is warranted.
Three seconds. One signal. No unnecessary conversation.
The device camera automatically detects a face. The customer does not need to do anything: no clicking, no moving closer, no touching the screen.
In age verification mode the algorithm analyses the image in a fraction of a second. It does not identify the person or store the image. It only estimates whether the customer appears to be above the configured age threshold (e.g. 18 or 25), then the image is discarded.
Green light – the customer appears to be of age, the sale can proceed normally. Red light – ID check is recommended.
In the age verification mode described on this page the device estimates age anonymously and does not process biometric data within the meaning of GDPR. The responsibility for ensuring GDPR compliance rests with the device operator. It is their procedures and configuration that are assessed, not the hardware itself. The age verification mode holds an ACCS certificate.
How age verification works in practice – from face scan to a signal for the cashier.
The film shows MyCheckr working at the point of sale. Recorded in Polish with English subtitles.
Three ITL devices – the same age estimation technology, different applications.
Biometric USB module integrated via API. Estimates age and recognises faces – built into machines and gates.
For machines and gates: vending, POS terminals, 18+ gates, SCO and gaming machines.
Compact USB module without a screen. Clips onto the host monitor – about the size of a USB camera.
For self-service: self-checkouts, kiosks, vending machines selling energy drinks.
Standalone device with a built-in touchscreen. Ready to use straight after connecting the power supply.
For staffed points of sale: grocery stores, off-licences, petrol stations, pubs.
All devices come with a 12-month manufacturer warranty (Innovative Technology Ltd). ViewPro provides configuration selection, integration and support in English.
Any point of sale with age-restricted products.
Protect your alcohol sales licence without putting your cashier in an awkward conversation with the customer.
Fast service under high footfall. The cashier focuses on the sale, not on judging the customer's age.
Regulations prohibit the sale of tobacco and nicotine products to persons under 18. MyCheckr makes compliance straightforward.
Energy drink sales to minors are increasingly restricted across Europe. MyCheckr Mini is a ready-to-integrate solution for vending.
Discreet verification at the bar or entrance, without pointing fingers at the customer.
Technology by Innovative Technology Ltd – a leader in transaction biometrics.
Zero subscriptions, zero per-verification fees, zero cloud access costs. Buy once, use without limits.
All processing happens locally on the device. An internet outage will not stop your business.
Mean age error below 1 year, verified by independent body ACCS. Best-in-class accuracy.
In age verification mode the device estimates age and discards the image immediately. No photos stored, no personal data retained.
MyCheckr is made by Innovative Technology Ltd (ITL) – a UK manufacturer of transaction biometrics operating since 1998 in over 60 countries. ViewPro is an official ITL partner responsible for configuration, integration and support.
In the age verification mode described on this page, MyCheckr estimates age from the camera image but does not identify the person and does not store any data. The image is processed locally on the device and discarded immediately after the result is given. The device does not create a biometric profile. This is confirmed by the ACCS (Age Check Certification Scheme) certificate.
It is worth noting that GDPR compliance obligations always rest with the device operator. It is their procedures and configuration that are subject to assessment, not the hardware itself. Devices in this family can operate in different modes; with each deployment the operator should assess the scope of data processing in their own environment.
No. The entire algorithm runs locally on the device (edge computing). An internet connection is only needed for optional features such as software updates or remote fleet management via the MyConnect dashboard. Day-to-day age verification requires no internet.
MyCheckr powers up after connecting the power supply. Physical mounting takes around 15 minutes. MyCheckr Mini only needs to be plugged into a USB port. Configuration (age threshold, display mode) is carried out remotely with ViewPro support or by your own team following our documentation. In most cases the device is ready to use the same day.
Yes. The age threshold is fully configurable: any value can be set such as 18, 21 or 25. Many UK and European retailers use a Challenge 25 policy, which MyCheckr supports natively.
MyCheckr is a standalone device with a built-in touchscreen and its own power supply. It mounts at the counter and shows the result directly to both the customer and the cashier. MyCheckr Mini is a compact screenless module powered via USB, designed to integrate with an existing self-checkout monitor or kiosk display; the result is signalled via LED or through the host screen. ICU Lite is a biometric module built into machines and gates – it communicates with the host device via a simple API and suits vending machines, POS terminals and 18+ gates.
We will show you how MyCheckr works in a live video call – real device, real scenarios, no commitment required.
